Anger

Let's get Angry!

Beer : Anger
Brewery : Greenbush Brewing
Brewed In : Illinois, USA
Style : Black IPA
ABV : 7.6%
Price : No Clue!
Notes : Year round availability.
Story : This was the 3 way trade Kevin , Adrian , and myself did.

Appearance : Anger poured like a stout.  I was a bit surprised how thick it came out.  The beer was completely opaque and had a thick beige head.

Smell : The smell is all coffee and espresso with a bit of citrus.

Taste : Mostly coffee as well but it is weirdly combined with citrus hops.  It is also bready and the taste lingers.

Mouthfeel : Almost full bodied and creamy.

Drinkability : This beer may be a weird combination and I would maybe argue about it being a black IPA but it is definitely tasty.

Dunegräs

With absolutely no dunegrass

Beer : Dunegräs
Brewery : Greenbush Brewing Company
Brewed In : Michigan, USA
Style : India Pale Ale
ABV : 6.%
Price : $1.69 according to the sticker on it!
Notes : Available year round.
Story : This is another beer that Ameya brought me in our trade.

Appearance : Dunegräs poured hazy light copper with a very fluffy off white head.  The most lacing I have had in a beer in a long time.

Smell : It is very earthy with a good mix of pine and citrus/grapefruit.

Taste : Bitter for sure but it doesn't sweeten up a bit in the finish.  The taste is very piney and grassy but the citrus is in their as well.

Mouthfeel : It rolls around and coats your mouth pretty good if you like the oily mouthfeel this beer has.  It isn't off putting but not that common.  Dunegräs is medium bodied.

Drinkability : I am really curious how this beer would taste on tap.  It is very good and I will pick some more up in the future... if I can't find it on tap.

The Great Burger Hunt - Buffalo Bistro

Manitoba Club's Club Burger

I'm always searching for places for The Great Burger Hunt. Sometimes I do avoid reviewing the usual burger joint, like VJ's, for a while because I don't want to be bothered writing about it when I just want to enjoy the burger. Other times, the burger review kind of happens based on a friend’s recommendation.

Club Burger
This one is courtesy of Kevin (and not the four other Kevins I have posted about on this blog before (you should check out Kevs Kitchen )). Thankfully he brought me out to try this burger.

Buffalo Bistro is part of Manitoba Club . A place I had heard good things about but have never got to try. Until now of course.

On Kevin's recommendation I got the Club Burger. I didn’t even really look at the menu but it seemed like they had a ton of options. Plus the burger Kevin recommended wasn’t even on the menu anymore.

While we waited we enjoyed a couple tasty seafood appetizers and drank some wine and beer, possibly bourbon too.

Lamb Burger (Photo by Kevin)
The food didn't come out quick but it wasn't super slow either.  The Club Burger was a very juicy burger with tomato, lettuce, cheese, and I obviously added bacon. The burger patty was very nice and the bun was great. It was one of those burgers where it was a nice combination of greasy and messy in flavor but not too messy that it is actually dripping everywhere.

Kevin and I also split our burgers to try the different burgers. He ordered the Lamb Burger, which had blue cheese on it. Now blue cheese is always a questionable topping. Great if used right but too overpowering if used wrong. Thankfully they used just the right amount, making for a great burger, although I’d argue it was a bit salty for me. But you know what, I just love lamb.

The fries were great too. They were also covered in cheese and demi-glace. I actually found them a bit smoky, which I like very much.

Keep in mind Manitoba Club is members only, or just convince a member to invite you. The prices were unknown to me and they're not on the menu, luckily Kevin shared the prices with me.  Keep in mind the prices are also going towards the atmosphere and exclusivity of eating there.  If I got a chance to go back and eat there I'd again.

What I got : Club Burger and fries - $21 (before taxes)

Burger Taste : 4/5 (both burgers would get 4)
Fries Taste : 5/5
Menu Selection : 4/5
Price Value : 3/5
Overall : 4/5
